 Manager of Broadcasting and Media Development

The Manager of Broadcasting and Media Development will be responsible for the oversight, management and accountability of all radio/television broadcasts for the Frisco RoughRiders. Additionally, this position will be the key contact for all media initiatives and team communication. This position will report to the Senior Vice President.

The Frisco RoughRiders are the Texas League, Double-A Affiliate of the Texas Rangers located in Frisco, TX. The RoughRiders have led Double-A baseball in attendance since 2005 and are consistently in the Top 10 in all of Minor League Baseball attendance.

Key Responsibilities
• Liaison between players and media
• Cultivate relationships with print, electronic and broadcast media members
• Point person for pitching stories related to sales, sponsorship, community development and RoughRiders Foundation
• Responsible for the production of all radio and television broadcast of team games
• Serve as the team play-by-play radio broadcaster
• Facilitate post game broadcast interview when needed
• Serve as primary media representative on road trips
• Lead the execution of two large scale media day events (pre-season & mid-season)
• Manage the development of the team media guide and miscellaneous print materials
• Maintain daily records and team statistics
• Maintain contact with league news bureaus on league statistics
• Prepare day-of-game press kits
• Accommodate Texas League, and MLB media requests
• Accommodate local media requests
• Oversee team community relations (Speaker’s Bureau) efforts to ensure the most favorable public image
• Set up and conduct a minimum of 5 speaking engagements each week in the off-season and 2 per homestand in season.
• Manage relationship with clipping bureau and maintain media values per season
• Coordinate team archives
• Oversee game day press box as well as prepare time sheets for part time staff compensation
• Other duties as assigned by the Senior Vice President

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required
• At least three years of media development experience
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong understanding of the game of baseball, including plays, stats and history required
• Prior experience with posting content on website and social media
• Ability to work flexible hours, including but not limited to evenings, weekends and holidays
• Strong computer proficiency

Job Description: Assist team’s media relations and public relations departments
Assist with the creation of all Suns publications
Potential for play-by-play (3 inn.) and color commentary (3 inn.) duties for home games
Potential opportunity to travel with team on select road series
Assist with team’s youth programs and directives
Opportunity for various public speaking engagements
Assist in obtaining team’s objectives
Maintain all information systems, database information


Desired Experience: Quality candidates must be creative minded, willing to sell professional baseball to clientele, possess solid communications skills and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Individual must work successfully in a team environment and be able to utilize a wide variety of computer applications. Excellent writing skills mandatory and candidate must have some play-by-play and/or color commentary experience.

Compensation: Unpaid

Candidates will receive experience in all areas of operation including: stadium operations, media relations, community relations, tickets, promotions, merchandise, marketing, groups, etc.

The Suns are looking for successful self-starters who have the desire to grow with the organization. It is imperative that interested individuals are able to multi-task and are willing to work in a team atmosphere to reach organizational goals. Currently, there are four former Suns interns working as lead radio broadcasters in the South Atlantic League, plus others working in radio in Florida, North Carolina and elsewhere. It’s a long, hard summer, and if you perform well it’ll put you in position to get a #1 gig in 2011.
