Promotions Team (2010 Season) - Frisco RoughRiders (Frisco, TX)

Job Description: Become an integral part of the Frisco RoughRiders Sponsorship Services Promotions Team for the 2010 baseball season. The sponsorship services team performs the necessary duties required to fulfill all the elements of our corporate partnerships, in addition to going above and beyond that is expected to ensure partner satisfaction. You will interact regularly with our fans, sponsors, and other RoughRiders staff members. This opportunity will provide you with knowledge and experience in sports sponsorship and promotions.

Job Duties:

  • Assist with set-up, execution, and break-down of nightly events and sponsor promotions.
  • Act as a nightly tour guide to small groups of fans prior the baseball game.
  • Assist with mascot duties as needed.
  • Perform administrative work such as research, data-entry, etc.
  • Help organize souvenir gift bags, promotional mailings, etc.
  • Photograph fans, sponsors, promotions, and other assigned photos.
  • Flexibility to perform various duties and projects as needed.

 Qualifications:

  • Outgoing and Enthusiastic
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable speaking in front of small groups
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and interest in baseball is helpful, but not required.

Hours:

  • Arrive 2 hours prior to each home game, and stay through the end, unless otherwise specified.
  • If you cannot attend a game, you are expected to find a substitute beforehand.

Attire:

  • Each promotions team member will be provided with game-night shirts that must be worn.
  • Additionally, a cell phone at each game is required.

Field Operations Intern (unpaid) - Hagerstown Suns (Hagerstown, MD)

The field operations intern will assist in all aspects of maintaining a baseball field to professional standards.  Due to the limited size of our crew, the intern will be trained to perform all tasks associated with field care. Along with the field duties, our intern will learn about working and communicating with front office staff, managers, players and umpires. At the end of the internship, the student will have a good foundation of knowledge of how the grounds staff fits into the overall success of a minor league baseball team. Duties will include, but are not limited to:

- Infield skin repair, maintenance and preparation
- Repair and maintain pitchers mounds and home plate areas

Description
· Oversees catered events from beginning to end of event.

· Works alongside of Assistant Director of Food & Beverage, and Director of Operations for details on event

· Reports to the Director of Operations. 

· Meets and Exceeds customer expectations for each and every event or delivery

· Oversees servers, set up and utility staff daily

· Ensures any catered events are set up properly and in a timely manner for the start of the event.

· Enforces HACCP Guidelines:

Hot food hot, cold food cold, cutting & rubber gloves,

· Trains staff in proper service and set up

· Assists with employee appraisals for staff

Reports prepared to work on time in proper attire.

School Program- Ticket Sales/Community Relations - Staten Island Yankees (Staten Island, NY)

The Staten Island Yankees are looking for interns to assist our school program. As an intern with the Staten Island Yankees, you will be exposed to many different aspects of the school program including going to school assemblies, picking up ticket orders from the schools, processing and printing tickets, customer service and tracking of program results. You will be an integral part of the operation and implementation of one of our most successful programs and are encouraged to make suggestions and ask questions.
 

The Yankees play 38 home games each season.  Since 2007, they have gone from one sell-out in 6 years to selling out 26 of 38 games last year.  The School Program played a large part in this success.

We own seven minor league teams. We’re planning on buying more. We would like to populate management positions in those teams with people that have learned our marketing methods. We’ll train you, we’ll encourage you to become successful, and then we’ll look for you to do the same with recruits at our other teams.

Job Compensation: College credit available in addition to payment for specific non-game day events

Hours: On average, 10-20 per week during the season

Internship description:

The Winston-Salem Dash, the Carolina League affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, is seeking an intern interested in a career in photojournalism.

The intern will be responsible for photographing game action, on-field entertainment acts, fan & mascot interaction, assorted events held at the ballpark and other activities on or outside of game days as assigned by the team’s sponsor services, ticketing and media relations departments. The intern may also be asked to work off a nightly shot list in order to obtain photographs of specific areas of the ballpark, signage or sponsor promotions.

A functional knowledge of baseball is required of all candidates interested in the position. The intern must also provide his or her own photography equipment capable of securing high-resolution images.

Qualified candidates will receive compensation for events held during the offseason or outside of normal game days/hours, but will not receive a regular stipend. The photography internship may also be taken for course credit depending on the parameters set forth by the respective student’s college or university.

Specific starting and finishing dates can be negotiated between the team and the candidate, though the bulk of the internship is structured around the Carolina League season, which runs from the second week of April through mid-September. Though the intern will not have a regular schedule during the offseason months, the team expects to host a handful of events leading up to the opening of its new downtown ballpark that will require the photographer to be present.

During the season, hours will vary from week to week in accordance with the team’s home schedule and can be flexible to work around the candidate’s schedule and availability. Qualified candidates should expect to work an average of 10-20 hours each week in-season.
